Another thing to remember too is a barrel saddle will have you riding smaller than in any other western saddle. For example, I have a 15inch reining saddle but I need a 14inch barrel saddle. That is true for most everyone. 14inch in a common size and is a safe bet, but I would try one out first.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

Except for people like me who've had thighs and a booty since high school. Then a 15" is common, LOL.

But I agree the OP sounds like she probably needs a 14 inch, just guessing off her measurements she gave.

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.

I'm 5'8'', 135lbs and I ride in a 13'' saddle. It really just depends on your body type.

Too true. I'm 5'5 and weigh around 135. According to that chart, I should be riding in a 16", but I can't stand having all that room around me. I currently ride in a 15" and could probably get by very well in a 14 or 14.5.

OP, like others have said, just go to a tack store and start plopping your butt in all their saddles. Find one that makes you feel comfortable and secure and go from there.

We don't know your height. Some 13" saddles have much shorter fenders. If you are petite that may be fine but something to watch for. I'm thinking a 14" as you're still growing. You should try to sit in a few as you may prefer one style of tree over another. Don't look at how pretty the saddle might be, you need to focus on how it feels and if that tree will fit your horse.

I've also owned a 15" Tex Tan that I still mourn over because it fit me beautifully but it didn't fit my horse.

Oh I would love a picture. I'm so excited that it's been working out for you since you weren't sure if the size would be good for you at first. :)
