    What a weekend! *Long*

So we went to a race this weekend and did fairly well! So Thursday we rode and I decided to make a little run on JJ in the bottom pasture where we have a pattern set up (open and no fences for the horses security). I ran him in the Easy 5....he responds to the bit but really is like whatever when riding but responds lol. I had that on him and I came around the little sucker trees and opened him up to first and he ATE the first barrel like I said whoa and he sat and turned that sucker. So right there told me it is a lot of the riders error now because I should have NO control in that bit at a full out run especially to the first. I was so pleased with him now we are getting things back lined out and him working the first...

But before Thursday we sent out truck into the shop to get the Turbo worked on because the truck just wasn't having the power it usually does and so we dropped it off Tuesday so maybe they could fit it in when they had a few spare minutes and sorta work on it and get it done by Friday. Well come to find out they didn't even hook it up to the computer till THURSDAY morning! Boy my mom was HOT lol....she went and reamed them for that because they had it IN the shop on Tuesday after we dropped it off and could have did it then. So we were trying to find a dually just incase...and anyway they had to order a part and it wouldn't be there in time and that the truck wouldn't be done until Tuesday. Oh so there goes my mother again...reamed them again and about not having a dually if somebody needs an vehicle because we ARE in cattle and horse country after all...we can't pull trailers with a Corvette...so they put the shipment on rush order so it would get here by Friday morning...

So it does thankfully and they get it on and it is ready to go....so we hook up and get Quincy and load horses and head out. It was a REALLY good weekend! JJ ran a 16.9 the first day and worked his first good, just wasn't running between as hard. Got 5th in the 2D and got some money! A nice $120 check! And Quincy rode Skippy and got 2nd in the 4D lol and got a $240 check! Then on Sunday JJ ran a 16.7 and was 8th in the 1D just missed a check by 2 spots...Quincy one the Open and Youth 4D lol! She came home with $480!

I am planning on putting JJ back in his SS Cervi because now that he is wanting to work his first the bit now is a bit to much so is interfering with when I want to help him on the backside. But he is WORKING!!!

So we leave Sunday and are just on the first grade out of Naches and Pookie is passed out in the back and we are only about 20 miles into the way home when BOOM! Me and my mom are like wth, we check the mirrors and no tires...then the truck looses all power so we get it off the freeway to the shoulder (and mind you are outfit is 8 wide so we are HUGGING the guard rail and can only open the pass. Door 1ft mabye)....so we are thinking oh god did our engine just blow up! So we call my dad who was driving South back to work and was about 35-40 minutes out and he turned around and dropped by.

So we are stranded along I-90 and you can tell the curtious people vs the complete a$$ holes who don't move over and go FLYING by you. So my mom got out and of course had her flashers on then popped the hood but at that time she didn't know what she was looking for and just got back in and was calling people cause we were stranded with 3 horses in 100*. The first car that stopped was sorta a creepy scary guy and just got a red flag lol....but he found the problem and it was the hose for the Turbo had blown off...so he got it back on and we started it and it just popped off again right after it started....he drove away and yada yada. So as we were waiting we called my dad and told him what the problem was so he knew. Well we had a horse trailer pull behind us from Cali and he asked if we were OK and we said ya told him we had help on the way....then another trailer a bit after that but we flagged them to keep going and that we were OK.

Finally my dad arrived and then a Stater pulled in and asked if we were ok and come to find out my mom used to Jr. Rodeo with him lol! So my dad had to go to the town about 20 miles ahead and get some clamps to put on because it was just a big metal band that WAS on it and it looked like a metal bracelet....So when he got back he put it on then ANOTHER stater stopped and we told him we were good to go and almost finished.

So we head out and were golden were about an hour and 40 from home just outside of Soap Lake...BOOM! Me and my mom both said OH F at the same time lol....and we were in the dead zone by just a smidge so my mom got on her ON-Star....who she ends up getting in a fight with lol because it keeps misunderstanding what she is saying. And by that point we were laughing because it was just that point in the day where your like ok whatever. But it is getting dark so we are scrambling to get a hold of somebody as we bounce between 1-2 bars. Because we needed to get the horses somewhere and not just any pickup can pull our trailer...it must be a Dually and when you NEED to think of somebody only a few names seem to pop in your head. But our friend who was at the race got a hold of another friend of ours who lived about 20 miles away and came out. But in the time being we had 4 cars stop on the little 2 lane and ask if we were ok. We got lucky when it blew there was a wide spot and a long driveway to a few houses so we babied it over there. And one gal drove all the way out their just to see if we were ok lol.

But the last guy that stopped we asked to help because my mom couldn't get the sleeve back on the line and it turned out he was a diesel mechanic! So he knew exactly what to do and everything lol! He told us it would probably be fine to go but my mom was like I don't even want to try especially with it getting dark and there are a few good pulls left to go and no service. Then our friends show up and we only had to tow the trailer 5 miles to their friends really nice place that they let us stay at for the night. And in the morning we had a friend from home that called and told us we could use her truck and she could be on her way by 9am and boy was I happy to see her! So we unhooked ours and hooked it up to hers and off we went! I was SO glad to pull into the driveway BOOM free on the way home lol. But we weren't pulling 20,000lbs behind us lol.

So yes VERY stressful after the race lol! Stranded on the freeway for 2 1/2 hours then stranded for another 2 hours before help arrived lol. And boy I am glad their are some nice people still in the world who would stop and help you! We had 9 people total after both episodes that stopped. But man I HATE semis that the left lane is clear to move over yet they rather blow by you without slowing down....same with some of the cars. BUT a few semis actually pushed cars almost off the road lol because they were being super nice, moving over and slowing down and not caring if their was a car in the left lane :) So me and my mom got a chuckle out of that a few times haha.

But I had a great weekend besides that and am so glad to finally be relaxing and have some great friends that lend a hand!

    Now here are the videos!

So I trusted him going to the first and just let him roll and not get in his face....wasn't easy to do lol but I just visioned running in the bottom and just relaxed.

And while I was there I snapped a few pics in my free time!

    Crazy weekend indeed!

I like watching your runs. You guys look good! I'm still trotting the pattern with Red, and I'm just crossing my fingers he turns out to be a tough rodeo horse!

Now I don't mean to hijack your topic with questions, but in the other thread about "post show results" you had a bunch of pictures of JJ with his different standing wraps, ice wraps, and some special horse sheet you had on him.

Can you explain what all those different things do and why you do them? Curious to learn!

Your perfectly fine asking questions lol!

The Standing Wraps I use after a run with a liniment (try to use Sore No More if I have it, on JJ) to help keep the tendons tight and swelling out after a run. I also use Standing Wraps while stalling to help with keep out any swelling or stocking up while they are standing. He also is stalled with Soft Ride boots to add cushion.

The Cold Water Bandages are basically like hosing down the legs but a lot colder. It helps reduce the inflammation and helps cool down the leg after a run.

And for the BOT here is a link to their website that can explain it better then me lol.
