My fastest time in a smaller arena is 14.4 on my mare, which I got 3rd in Open class with. Most standard arenas me and my gelding run low 16s and my mare runs high 16s or low 17s. She's a small pattern horse. My gelding ran a 16.1 with me last time in a medium sized arena, fastest time was 15.7, he's 15 years old and still getting back in shape.

My fastest time in a big arena was a 17.6 and I'm really proud of me and my horse, at that point of time I haven't been barrel racing for long. :)

I did get a 18 on a different horse (Joker) though. I think I could do better on Joker cause I was bare back when I got the 18.

I have done 16.2 sec. In a large arena and I was pretty pround of that one. I did 13.3 in a medium arena last month.
Smokeyblue, that's cool how you got a better time without a saddle! I have a hard time barrel racing without a saddle because my horse is shorter and turns deep and I skim the ground with my foot around the barrel. I don't know how well that would go if I didn't have support of a saddle. :) (I also am I lover of the POAs)

Old post..but..you do realize that the world record on a standard pattern is a 16.653 set by Barbara Merill and Proud Red Pepper right?

That's actually old news.

That was broken by Tanya Steinhoff and Hotshot (Nate Shilabar) with a 16.644

Which was then broken by Nicole Aichele and Biankus French Girl with a 16.643 in the 2010 BRN4D Championship Round.

Faster just keeps getting faster!

Fastest I have ever seen on a standard pattern was 15.05 or something crazy. It was the winner of the 13 and under AQHA congress. She had everyone in the crowd yelling it was amazing!
I'm not saying the accomplishmenet wasn't great to win at AQHA congress (hard competition at that level) ... but there's no way it was a standard pattern like the diagram I posted because there's no way it was a 15.05 when the current world record is a 16.643 on a standard pattern.

dern, should have checked again to make sure

It rubs me the wrong way when people say they run 15s on a standard...theres no way.
