Your thoughts on pads?

What kind of pad do you use?

Right now I am using a Charmayne James one and love it!

I've been thinking about buying a fleece pad and then some different color show blankets for shows for shows, but I'm not sure. Not many people do it in my area.

So anyway, what are your favorite barrel racing pads?

Pssh I don't mean fleece. Lol *face/palm* I meant felt. Or wool.

I personally do NOT like the Air Ride pads....no shock absorption what so ever.

I like ESPs, Impact Gels, and my newest liking is 5 Stars....I only use the best on my horses.

Conformation is how far the horse CAN go,
Mind is how far the horse WILL go,
Training is how far it DOES go.

I like my Cavallo pad...

I've been using one of these guys under it because of the plasticy materal on the underside of the Cavallo pad.

But, I want to get a thin felt pad that I can cut down to fit under the Cavallo pad.

I use this exact pad for roping and riding when I'm not going to be making the horse sweat too much.

And sometime, I want to buy one of these:

Right now I only use Classic Equine ESP pads. I have a few and love them..I do want to try the new Impart Gel pads.

I don't like any of the Air Ride pads..Especially the Charymayne James pads, they seem cheap to me and won't take shape for your horse. I have friends that use them and the sides tend to curve out and it just seems low quality and that Pro Choice is just trying to sale them because they have Charmayne's name on them.
I've also had the Air Ride pads slip under my saddle..I think SorrelHorse had the same problem but I'm not 100% positive about that..

And IMO you get what you pay for..If you buy cheap, that's what quality you'll have.

I have an Impact Gel, an old wool Reinsman, and a Professionals Choice Air Ride.

I use the Impact Gel and Air Ride, and need to replace both. My Impact Gel Isn't working under my new treeless saddle and the Air Ride doesn't offer much support. I had a CJ pad once, it didnt last long with me. Way to thin.

I'm going for a Classic Equine pad, 5 Star, or Best Ever pad next. You get what you pay for and I don't need a horse with a sore back.

This is the exact pad I use except its cut out along the back where the leather is, and I love it because it really works with my horse having high withers and all. It was a bit expensive but it was definitely worth the investment because it stays in place great and has been holding up plus I really prefer the fleece wool pads over anything else.

I tried 5 Stars....didn't care for them too much.

I only use a Best Ever and a CE ESP pad
