Dancing, since you're more aerodynamic now with the lid, you may save some mpg. I had a tonneau top on my last truck but I bought it that way, so I had nothing to compare it to.

I think I will. I immediately felt a difference in how the truck handled. I felt less "whippy" in the rear.

Here she is, in all her beauty:

Mythbusters did a show on truck fuel mileage myths. Lets just say not much of what they tried did a whole lot of good and some actually hurt mileage. Has to do with the aerodynamics of wind flow over the truck top and does not come back down until past the tail gait. IE your tailgate is not a wind sail that's holding you back.

The show Trucks! Has done a lot on how to improve fuel mileage. It will take watching a lot of episodes to see all the different ways to improve mileage. But that shouldnt be to much of a burden, for most of us our tow rig is as important as our horse!

True, but I believe that meant driving with your tailgate down wouldn't improve your gas mileage. Did they cover tonneau covers as well?

I've never heard about Trucks! Before, and now I will have to hunt it down!

I will have to get back about my tire size, because I'm still a truck newbie and don't know offhand, LOL.

Been a while since I've seen that Mythbuster episode but I do believe they did tailgate off, down, webbing and tonneau cover. I want to say replacing your tailgate with webbing was the best improvement but actually didn't do all that much.

Trucks! Is shown on Spike TV (Saturday/Sunday mornings) in my area but you can watch episodes on PowerBlock TV

I had a 2004 F-250 Fx4 v10 that I LOVED. Love love loved. Great gas mileage for a truck that size (14-16mpg unloaded, ~10mpg loaded). Drove great, always handled any load with aplomb and was just super comfy and easy to drive. I used it as my daily driver when I broke my rt shoulder and wasn't able to drive my car (manual transmission) and was so happy I had it then. :)

We currently have a 2002 F250 V10 crew cab V10 best truck I ever seen. I love V10s. Our last trip we hauled a Bronco 2 and a 2300lb trailer got 11.2 MPG threw the salt river canyon. The V10 is my favorite engine. People complain about the V10 I think because of the 10 cylinders they automatically thing bad gas mileage. Well in my area most claim the same fuel mileage with there diesels as our V10 has. I wouldn't trade our 02 F250 V10 for anything it is that good of a truck. Not even my dad thinks twice about buying this truck.

Hows the spark plugs on the V-10 ? Do they break off in the engine like the late 5.4's ? Or blow out like the early ? Or are normal?
