I am definitely getting one of these trucks , between a 2007-2012 and have priced some and definitely the GMC that I want with leather, 20 inch wheels, chrome package as far as grill, tow hooks, door handles, mirrors, tailgate handle, I can get that same Chevy 1500 crew cab for maybe 5-6k cheaper.

Basically look like the same vehicle so what is the differences? I know the thing about Name factor when it comes to GMC being that name, but what's really the differences in the truck. I will be pulling my 2 horse trailer sometime but not often, and utility trailer sometimes but other than that it will be just a pretty truck, a cruiser for me . I'm probably gona get the tow package too.

They're both pretty much identical. My dad has an 09 Chevy Silverado 2500 and one of our friends has a GMC Sierra half ton. They look almost identical both externally and under the hood if you didn't know the specific companies.

Same truck.

Minor differences in trim levels (although only GMC gets the fancy-schmancy Denali models), minor differences in front fascia and rear taillights. Other than that, they're the same truck.

I just wanted to pop in here and say that we have a 2005 Chevy Silverado, its an awesome truck. I'm sure the GMC would be too, as they are the same trucks. Just thought id give you my 2 cents. We love our truck.

We have a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 and we love it! It easily pulls our camper trailer loaded.

On our farm its Chevy/GMC nothing else ;)

Along with what Joe said, besides the price of the tires, check the load rating. Big street-type wheels and tires just can't tow as well and are much more likely to have a blowout or other problems.

oh no, I wont put aftermarket wheels and tires on it. I will buy the truck , hopefully new, with the factory setup 20 inch wheels. Maybe even the 22's if they give me the price I want and so that is a world of difference between putting aftermarket rims and stuff on and the gear ratio and computer not being setup for it

I have a 2011 GMC 1500. It's awesome. The GMC's have more heavy duty suspension and brake pads. You can also get the GMC in a 6.4 liter. I had this same dilema when I bought my new truck. I test drove about 20 GMCs and Chevys. I finally decided on my 2011 GMC 4x4 crew cab 1500. It's got a 5.3. It's very peppy and pulls a loaded two-horse trailer great. Also, this time of year if you buy brand new you can use dealer rebates and 0% 72 month financing on a 2011 model. They are really trying to get rid of them to make room for the 2012's. This time of year you can just about buy a brand new one for the same price as a used one.
