Help Fast Truck Gurus!

Ok,
Down the road is a 1970 1 ton dually, flat bed with a fifth wheel hitch.
Brand "new" engine, automatic, new disc brakes, brand new wood bed, decent condition cab, no rust. Pretty sharp looking!

OF COURSE I didn't take photos! We are going to go look at it at 5:30.
Guy drives it everyday back and forth to work, says no trouble with it.
He's moving out of state and doesn't need it anymore...

WHAT do I look for? Any classic truck tips and tricks?
Have knowledgeable BIL going with DH to check her out, but at only $1,500
We can do a little with it if the trans and everything looks/acts ok! Needs new rear tires so we are going to try and get him down to $1,250.
Is that steep? It's not Perfect but the cab is REALLY clean, speedometer works, BRAND NEW wood bed, pretty neat little truck!

HELP!!!!

BTW I did a major online search and I can't find anything even REMOTELY comparable. Either they are super tricked out and are going for around 9,000, some for 4,500 that aren't dually, IDK?!?!!!

Oh, it's a Chevy.

Must be a C30???

That would be awesome if it is truely in that good of shape!

I had a 72 and it seems on those old Chevys the rocker panels rust out horrible as fas as body work.

An old friend had one her grandpa put a Nissian diesel moter in, a splitter on the tranny and stacks ...so much fun to drive!

You must add pics!

Thanks!
Ooohhhhhh, I'm super excited! Hope it works out!
It has a new exhaust system, no rust AT ALL, he says the engine is super nice and people keep trying to buy it off him but he wants to sell the whole thing...
IDK, we've been looking for a cool classic to trick out and have a neat farm truck!
This one might just fit the bill. Photos will be posted in a bit if we snag it!!!

Nice! I would be excited too! I love a classic rig....especially a late 60s, early 70s Chevy or GMC!

Heck yeah! And it is a C30!
Classic red and white, decent paint job, chrome is good... I have a feeling that when we're done with it it'll be olive green! LOL! With tan leather interior...

Ok, what a ridiculous day!
Well went dry (again), DH comes home for lunch and I got nothin! So we run down to a teeny tiny town 7 miles away where they have a small snack shack which we never do. Now this town is tiny, no stop light, no store, only a school, a post office, and this snack shack surrounded by lovely mountains. So DH asks if I want to eat there or take it home, I say whatever... He ACTUALLY offered to eat there which is outside on a tiny patio, which he NEVER likes to do! So we order, sit down and RIGHT across the highway is this truck! Right in front of us. I say LOOK AT THAT!!! Go check it out! He normally doesn't and would have shrugged it off BUT HE CROSSED THE HWY and checked it out!!! Not only did he check it out, but he called right then and there! No answer but he left a message. Two hours later a guy called named Bobby Ray! LOL! He's been to our place wanting to log it but we turned him down. DH goes out to drive it tonight with BIL and he brought it home! Drives like a DREAM!!

Guess it was just meant to be! Here is our new farm truck "Paul".
