Just Bad Luck

Ahhh so I have bad luck

Well I got a really nice 1997 Ford Ranger. It was awesome. I loved it. Way better then my little geo metro! Well I had the little truck for about 3 days now but no longer then that :(

Today I was driving home from taking care of my horse. I was driving up to a light that allows me to go stright or turn right on the highway. I continue to go stright. People from the oppisite direction are able to go left onto the highway or go stright. As I continue to go stright the people that are turning left from the opposite direction are supposed to wait. As I was driving I realized people were still turning so I let off the gas a little. This truck turn and I watch to see if the car behind him did.....and the car did...I slammed on my brakes to stop and then BAM I hit the guy in the side.

It was horrible. My car did like a 180 turn as it hit. My airbags went off..my head slammed into the airbag at the impact. I had my little fox terrier mix in my passenger seat. As I hit the airbag I saw in the corner of my eye my dog go flying hitting the airbag (My dog was fine..I was surprised he didn't break his neck). By the time my truck was stopped my face and arm stung and I had some back pain but nothing more then that thank god!

I looked over to see the guy that I hit not moving. People ran over telling us to stay in the cars. People were calling the police, luckly the guy I hit started moving but said he was intense pain. The cops and ambulances and firetrucks showed up. Traffic was horrlibe. My dog was okay. Paramedics rushed to the guy and me. They inspected me. I told them I was fine. They ended up asking me to go into the ambulance to do some more inspecting. The guy I hit was rushed to the hospital. I hope he is okay!

The cop said they cited the guy for an illegal left turn and that it was lucky he had no one in the passenger seat because they could of very well died. They released me as fine when my dad showed up since I am still a minor. I'm glad everyone is okay. My little truck protected me pretty well. Compared to my truck and the guys car my little truck held up pretty good, but its still totaled :( only 3 days of having my new truck gahh!!!! If I was driving my other TINY car I may not of been lucky. SO now i'm waiting to see what going on since the accident was not my fault....hopefully I will be able to get a new car soon again!

I'm also just happy no one was killed and relieved there was no one in the passenger seat of the other car. Even thou it was not my fault I would not be able to bear with killing someone. Well that's my little story that I have bad luck after trying to get a new car forever and I finally got it and then it was totaled. Now i'm back to driving my old car for the time being while we figure out what the insurance is going to do.

Well thank goodness you're ok. A ranger saved my life once. A 94, loved that truck. Missed a deer, hit a ditch and 3 fences before coming to a stop. $6600 worth of damage, I was sore and had a seatbelt bruise, nothing more.
Again, sooo glad you are ok, and that the police cited the guy.

That's awful! Glad you're OK. Hopefully the scum bag you ran into, due to his own fault, doesn't try and sue you for pain and suffering. There are so many bad drivers around here and every week I have a close call, I'm actually going to install a dash cam in my car for insurance reasons... that way there's no question as to who was at fault.

I'll tell you those little Ranger's don't mess around! I've see quite a few of them in accidents and even more that farm boys use just to play around in fields, ditches, creek beds, etc. They definitely hold their own! Glad you are okay, I cringed when I saw you say your dog was in the passenger seat since a friend of mine lost his dog in a situation like this when she hit the dash and did break her neck :( SO SO SO happy you are both okay!

Thanks guys for your concern! As of now i'm just having lower back pain but its no big deal. There are so many witnesses that just flat out said the guy turn right in front of me. Luckly my insurance has coverage for an uninsured motorist so just in case the guy didn't have insurance everything should be taken care of. Its just more of an inconvience then anything..I have no car as of now! Cakemom that's how I feel also. If I was driving my old car I would have far more injuries then my sore back. I'm glad you were okay too!

Oh my gosh yes! I was so worried about that happening. My dog Tucker hit the airbag and was actually flung back behind the seats of the ranger (it had an extended cab)..those Rangers really don't mess around. Even thou its not the truck I wanted I still loved that little truck!

Gah! So when the car accident happen the cops were not able to get the guys insurance information due to the guy being dazed and confused and the glove department of the car being crunch. The cop said he was going to the hospital to get the information and to call him the next day. Turns out the cop was off the next day until monday..so we called like 10 other numbers and finally someone said we had to wait 6-8 days to recieve the information for some reason....So getting this guys insurance information is becoming a hassel!!! We don't even know if he has insurance....and it turns out we don't have coverage for uninsured motorist so I could be SOL....So we are waiting until monday to get a hold of the cop instead..I just won't be in a great mood this weekend because I'm too worried wondering if the guy had insurance...and I don't really have my own car...

If he doesn't have insurance, depending on how much your Ranger was worth you could always have your parents pursue the guy in civil court. Always a last resort though, no one wants to pay for lawyers.

I didn't know if you are in an accident and it is your fault that makes you a scum bag. Pretty harsh words

I wouldn't let my dog in the front seat. I prefer a harness in the backseat.
