Thanks AC!

Out of all the Dodges that I have owned, my family has owned and that I have used for work trucks, I have never had that front end problem, lucky me? LOL.
I knew there was a difference in cab/chassis vs. Regular beds but I didn't know it was that significant. But The truck we are looking at was sold with a regular bed but was replaced with a flatbed.

We just found another 2007 same exact truck except it has 6.7L with a 6 speed manual trans.

Would you go 5.9L HO with an auto, or 6.7L with the 6 speed?

Yeah that's what I did when I bought my last one, got a regular bed and put a flatbed on it. They're a little wider, so sometimes they're harder to find a bed for, but I guess somebody already did that for ya. I don't know what the horsepower difference is now, but the last couple years it's been 70 or 75 hp. I guess they dummy-proof the cab/chassis trucks because so many of them become fleet trucks and have people driving them that don't own them. Kinda like a rental fleet, they plan on them being abused.

As far as the motors, I like the old 5.9. In my opinion you won't go wrong with either one. But the best I remember, the EPA stuff came with the new 6.7's. Well, they had some warranty issues with the turbos due to pollutants from the exhaust trap being sucked back into the turbo. Also mileage wasn't as good. The motors are good, but an 07 would scare me because they didn't have the bugs worked out yet.

Those 6 speeds are great, and that's probably what yall want for trailer pulling, but I think I'd rather have the 5.9 despite having an automatic. An 06 or 07 5.9 would be the last of the great ones in my opinion. But like I said, either would be good

Cool, Thanks!
We were thinking the 5.9 too. That's what we have in 06 of course and it does get great mileage and we have never had it worked on. We bought the 06 from a friend and he bought a new 08 with the 6.7, he was pissed about the mileage and wanted his 06 back..lol

Im not thrilled about an automatic, but I guess they have gotten better over the years and we will probably spend the money for an engine brake. Hubby don't care, he drives an18 speed so when he comes home he really doesn't want to shift....LOL...I make him drive when he's home, mean wife.
