Safest Truck?

Hi All,
I am in the search of my first truck...finally ! I have done some research and the safest truck I have found is a Ford Ranger. Does anyone know much about this truck or the safest truck to pull a horse trailer? (2H BP which I'm also in the market for)

Standard Cab,
maxiumum price I'm willing to spend on a good truck $5500

Thank you all!

A Ranger isn't going to have the umph to pull a 2-horse, much less the brakes to stop one, and it certainly doesn't have the wheelbase to.

I'd be looking for something like a mid-90s to early 2000s F-150 with a long bed.
Do not tell me I can't...because I will show you that I can.

I can personally vow for the Ranger. Mine has been an amazing little truck. Good gas mileage and enough room to haul junk in the bed. However, it CANNOT pull a horse trailer. I agree with above an F150, late 90's or newer will suit you fine.

Good evening,
Thank you for responding, I apologize it's taken me so long to reply. It has been a long summer already. If anyone knows a make/model, year etc. truck I would appreciate it.

DraftyAiresMum: Out of curiosity, why do you recommend a long bed?
