Like why do futurities pay out more in awards and prize money than disciplines like Western Pleasure? Uh, because cutting better! No, I'm just kidding..All disciplines are nice, it just depends on personal preference...I don't really think that cutting pays out more than the other disciplines either..It depends on the level of showing (ie, how large the show is and what level of competitors), Say it's a futurity with people like Tag Race, Matt Gaines, Matt Miller, Beau Galyean, Wesley Galyean, Phil Rapp, and Mary Ann Rapp..Those will have bigger pay outs than shows that don't have the bigger names and horses showing. Other factors are how many participants are showing, and whether or it's professional's or amateurs..A lot of things play into what awards and prizes you can win.

Cutting is more expensive to enter than most other disciplines.that's why a trainer picks which horses will go to the futurities and which ones will make weekend cutters.
