Ranch sorting - one eyed horse

I grew up riding western (mostly just trails), started riding English (hunter/jumper) about six years ago, and now I want to try ranch sorting. The horse I have that I want to ride is my 12 year old QH. He was a roping horse when I bought him about five years ago. I did some dressage with him, and tried to turn him into a hunter/jumper, but he's let me know it's not his thing.

He's 16hh, very stocky, and quick. He also only has one eye. He lost his right eye to cancer last Fall. Will this effect his ability to do ranch sorting? He seems to have adjusted well to his partial blindness, but I wasn't sure if not being able to see out of one eye would prevent him from being able to do ranch sorting. We did it once at a clinic when he still had both eyes, and we both had a blast.

I found a place not too far from me where we could take some lessons.

I really don't see any reason why he couldn't. He would depend much more on help from you to react to cattle on his blind side, but he can still do it. He might not be quite as good at it as he was at first, but with enough work and practice so that you can respond quickly to cattle on his blind side, you should do great.
