I liked the penning a lot more. I found a clinic next weekend I might go to, or I might go back down to where the practice was for a show. The shows only sorting though. The weekend after I'm going to another sorting practice, only its out of state.

I have a few pictures from the other night, I'm on the buckskin and wearing a helmet.

Great to hear you had a good time. I recomend taking the clinic. It is way easier to learn the correct way to doing things than it is to learn the wrong way then try and fix it. And always be open to constructive criticism. But most importantly have fun with it.

I am looking forward to trying team penning again. I haven't tried it for 4 years now as the people I went with lost interest that year and the club folded. We are just going to get the calves used to the horses this Saturday not a real competition. I am bringing my half Arabian and I am hoping he enjoys it. I'm excited even if I might mess up. I just want to have fun.

After this thread, I went a few more times, and wanted to go to a local rodeo and compete. I started my horse on barrels and poles, and he had a season ending injury Saturday, he badly injured his coronary band in the trailer. He is now dead lame, with a chance of not being sound again. Right now I can't afford another horse( I have $5000 in vet bills to pay), or else I would buy another one.

Sorry to here that Pony:( lot's have gone wrong the past week, keep your chin up:)

I really enjoyed sorting the one time I did it down in Texas. It was my first time I had ever even worked cows, and I was with a whole bunch of professional sorters, no beginners like me:P Thankfully each one of them was soooo nice and helpful!! Me and one of my partners were 1 point away to making it to the finals. I rode the owner of the ranch's horse, he was a really good babysitter, and then I rode my trainers horse who was a little bit quicker and finished. LOVED it!:)

Be wary of the horse with a sense of humour. - Pam Brown

Becareful once you start team penning and sorting you want to go to every event there is. And it gets to be long weekends and lots of driving. Hahaha.

Thanks Cowboy B. I tried putting both my horses in the trailer tonight and it went well thankfully! I was worried they might not load and the we wouldn't get to go. We leave tomorrow morning and the club meets pretty much every second Saturday or more frequently. I'm looking for some fun with my friends and meeting new people. And, I always enjoy seeing other people's horses.
