Anyone else have PMU rescues?

My mare is the result of farming pregnant mares to make a hormonal drug called Premarin. The results of these pregnant mares, the foals, are useless, so they often go to slaughter. The PMU farms have been getting shut down so it is not as big a business anymore but there are still a lot of premarin mares and foals out there for rescue. Just wondering if anyone else here has any? They are usually drafts and draft crosses, mine is a Percheron cross

Foal
Mine is a Clydesdale. She is 7 months old and I got her at auction in Missouri last September.

They've got synthetic premarin now, don't they? Hopefully using horses will be obsolete soon.

Tmy: Yes that clydsedale is very cute! Glad to see you took her in :)

Yes, I believe all the farms in the U.S. Have been shut down now, and a lot are getting shut down in Canada as well, so now a lot of the mares that were used are up for rescue too, hopefully the industry will be completely synthetic soon.

It will never be obsolete. Some woman do not get results with the synthetic hormone replacements.

Double post, do you think maybe they could find why the synthetic isn't working for them and find a solution?

Um, I suppose they could but PMU farming has come a long way. Now days the mares are carefully bred to produce nice foals, etc.
