Thanks! I appreciate all the information.
At this time, I am leaning towards a qh or paint...but also because there aren't a lot of drafts close by (within 1.5 hours of me)
But if I'm meant to have a draft, i'll have one :)

I had to look out of province for the specific mix I wanted. I had to bring my mare over from Manitoba.

i realize that 1.5 hours isn't a long distance at all. But gas is still sort of high, and I would have to pay someone to ship the horse.. and that could get pricey....

That is what I had to do. In the long run if the horse you find is what you are looking for, pricing of shipping won't be an issue.

there is a horse 2 hours 15 min away that I am going to see. It is outside of my projected time, but I really did like the look of him and everything.

If you take at the site below, you will find all the PMU farms that are registered. I believe most if not all farms include shipping wherever you are or will add shipping to your location. Most of it from what I have heard is quite affordable. Lots of really nice foals out there. Some light breeds as well not just drafts and most are registered horses.

Good Luck :)

Hey Solon - how's the pony??? Allegro says hello :)

I found Allegro through the site that Solon listed - draftsforsale.com - and had him shipped from KY to KS.

It probably isn't the way to go for many people, but I normally go with my gut - and it turned out to be a blessing and a dream come true.
