eeek!! Percheron mare.. Advice needed!

Hello all!

Well Im selling my quarter pony since I don't ride her all that much anymore and would like to see her go to a child that can grow up with her and have fun.
Well I got an email from someone saying that they like her but they are tight on money so they are trying to sell a warmblood they have, She's as sweet as can be and his to kids can ride her but he wants something smaller for them since she is 16 hands. Well.. I asked how he felt about a trade and he said that would work..

Well owning a Draft type horse has always ben my dream, and I "love" grey horses and she's grey!!..

Here is a little info on her-
16 hands, Very gentle. Was used as a trail horse in Kentucky while she was younger (so she's got trail experience)- She's a Percheron cross Im not sure with what.. Maybe Quarter horse TB- She has a smaller build to her.. smaller head and feet. She's fat right now.. but fat is better then being skinny! She's 13 years old..

Now I would "really" love to use her as an english horse.. but Im not sure if she would be up to it since she is 13.. I thought maybe since she's a little older and has only ben a trail horse she wouldn't do very good in the show ring. This is what I would like advice on. I really do like her and think she is very pretty... Ill try to post a picture in a little while... but do you think I should consider the trade???

She has a very cute face. With lots of time and work, she could be a good english pleasure mount maybe???? No horse is ever too old to be trained for something new, it just kinda depends on her conformation and ability. I don't know what you are planning to do with her. Were you thinking dressage, jumping, pleasure, etc.? If nothing else, she would be a good horse to just go play on even if you are not showing her. I would trade for her, she is a beauty.

She is very pretty! If you would want to train her into doing English, you would need to spend a lot of time and hard work. If you are up to it, sure.

Well I would definitely. Trail ride with her.. That's what I do mostly during the summer and then show whenever there is one... But I think I would like to do Pleasure and Jumping mostly... It would just be a second thing for fun since im mostly into the western...

And im up for the challenge id have time to train her lol... Im always out in the barn from 11 A.M till 10 P.M during the summer lol...

I think she could be a pretty good jumper, she has got nice long legs and doesn't look too heavy. Although, I would try her out or at least see her before trading to make sure that she has no SERIOUS behavioral issues or health problems (I advise a vet check even on a trade horse). Just from looking at the picture, she would probably need a lot of training to get the proper headset for pleasure but I would go for it anyway. Let us know what you decide.

She is cute aside from looking pregnant! LOL

Well if you were getting rid of your one horse becuase you didnt have time, what makes you think you will have time for this mare? Like once the novelty of having a new horse goes away...are you still going to want to put the effert into keeping up with her? But I do like her. I would really think hard on this...

I do have the time.. im not saying I don't.
What im saying is the reason why im selling my horse is because she is only 13 hands... So I can't take her and show her with out looking out of place lol.. I can wrap my feet arround her belly and my legs hang down to her knees, so I would like to see her go to a kid who can show her and have fun with her...

I think she would be a very nice trade. If your not too serious about showing and just want to do it for fun then I think she would be great. With horses like her it's important not to set your hopes too high for a serious showing career because at this point in her training she may be very set in her ways. BUT I'm not saying it can't be done. She might just surprise you.

I'd say go for it. She looks like a great horse. Just test her out first and see if you click and get the vet to check her.
