I think that if you just keep doing what you are doing, he will pick it back up and remember. He is just adorable. Isn't it fun to look down and see the ground so far away? LOL. Are you looking for split or single reins? Leather or cotton braid? I have been looking for my Perch and have found some pretty good deals and kinda know what is out there.

personally i like the split reins and i dont really care if they are cotton or leather, leather looks nicer but cotton feels better and cleans easier. Im open to both. =)

Most of everything that I have found is no longer than 8 feet. None of them are really cheap but here are a couple that I am considering. If you want leather reins in longer lengths than that, you have to have them custom made and they must be spliced and stitched. For that, I suggest visiting with your local saddle maker.

Try Sunset Halters. She's great and makes everything and all her stuff is wonderful. Here's the page for the split reins, which you choose 7, 8 or 9 feet

First I think your girth is fine, you just need to even it out so that it is equal on both sides.

Second, you can get a set of Mecate reins - 22' of a continuous length rein that can be horse hair or marine line (typically ~5/8" size). It should run about $25.00 or less if you get lucky.

The way they are setup is to have one end tied to a slobber strap on the bit and looped the length you want and attached to a slobber strap on the other side of the bit. The excess is just looped over the horn on your saddle and used to lead your horse.

Training ~ Mecates

Beautiful horse btw! I'm glad you got her back.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

It's not always what you say but what they hear.
