so I have been looking to purchase my first draft after owning QH's and appys , though have ridden many a draft. I recently tried a Belgian and a perch cross that just didn't work out and think I have found a good fit in a 15 yr old 17h Clydesdale mare , she rides and drives and is just a dream. So was really interested in seeing everyone's Clydes and even Clydesdale crosses.....
Well-mine is 23 yo, so he has been around a while.....from the days when they first started crossing Chydes with Tb's for field hunters.....at least in MD. He is out of Mountain Meadows Jason, who stood at Black Fox Farms Sporthorses back in the late 8o's, early 90's. THey are still around, and breed great crosses. He is currently retired as my primary riding horse, and is "working" as a therapy horse at a Therapeutic riding center. I have had him since he was 4, so he will come back and live his days out with me when he can no longer "work".
This is my Clydesdale Shiloh. She's 11 years old and 16.2hh. I've only owned her since May and she is the most gentle, patient horse I've ever met!! She's my first horse and first experience with horses and I couldn't have asked for a better mare!!
I have got to say that I cannot wait to break into the draft ownership club... there is a wonderful group here in Georgia ...and of all of the other horse owners I have met these draft owners are the most warm and welcoming ...and hope by next year will be apart of them and be able to show at the draft show in Perry, GA ..that is my goal!!!
