Meet my first Belgium Draft Sarah

Well after 45 years I finally have moved to the country and bought a dream girl. This is Sarah Bella, she is 16.4 and 7 years old. She is a gentle girl and so beautiful.

She's gorgeous! Congrats!

"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and, once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Congratulations! I'm almost your age and got my draftie when I turned 40. He's my 2nd love of my life, after my husband!! What a beautiful place you have.

Beautiful girl. Love the barn & paddock too--nice setup. I loosely follow Dr. Beth Valentine's draft horse diet. Her book Draft Horses An Owner's Manual is a good read. I say "loosely" because I probably don't feed as much fat as she recommends. This winter, my geldings have been on soaked beet pulp w/o molasses, soaked alfalfa cubes & vegetable or coconut oil. Hay is mixed grass.

What a pretty girl! I love the first picture.
Not to be a party pooper, but it's "Belgian", not "Belgium" draft. And also, 16.4 hands would be 17 hands. There are only 4 inches in a hand (: Just some friendly info!
