is mostly alfalfa hay ok for a draft?

I have a 2 yr old percheron/canadianX and I'm looking at buying hay for the winter. The farmer I'm thinking about buying from has hay that would be the second cut and appears to be mostly alfalfa, the rest appears to be a grass mix (not sure exactly, I'm not much of a hay coniseur although I wish I was). Is all this alfalfa going to be too much protein for him?

By the way he's a pleasure/trail horse, so nothing competitive or anything.

My vet always recommended grass hay with minimal alfalfa. He said mostly alfalfa was not good.

Unless it weighs a ton... it's just a horse. Draft horse motto.
