New Gypsy Vanner X owner

Hello all, I am now the proud owner of a 4 year old Gypsy Vanner/percheron mare. She has very little training and as of now has no papers. I was able to contact the original breeder and I will be getting her papered this year. She is out of a gypsy Vanner stud named Governor that is now deceased. She is the only horse I have other than my Spotted mini Jack. I want to start driving her from the ground and will be grateful for any tips you all may have. Thanks

Thank you. I am calling her Sparkles. She is short around 15.1hh. I traded a small puppy for her and was just going to resale her on craigslist. Then I was able to track down her original breeder and he talked me into keeping her. I had horses most of my life and when I sold out a few years ago I swore I would never allow another Hay burner on the place. I also sold every thing all tack and even my big trailer. And that was a big mistake (Never sell your trailer)you don't know how bad I miss that trailer. I am really looking forward to getting this mare broke to pull and I would also like to be able to ride her. I have ridden draft horses in the past and they are like Cadillacs of the horse world.

Thanks

She could be an easy-keeper! I know a Paint/Percheron cross who eats less than the Arabian pony and is FAT! :)

She eats way less than my Paints and Qh used to eat. 2 flakes a day and she is good with some hay left over. I think my cows eat more than she does.

Looks like a nice chunky girl.

While there are several Gypsies with the same name, the most famous Governor, here in the US, is this fellow.

He's dead now unfortunately. He was out of the great mare Tansy, who now lives in Montana.

I never knew they had crossbred Governor. His sire was never known, since he was bred in England and imported to the US.
