This is a pic of my 2 year old draft cross Mac. Sadly we lost Mac to colic recently and he was layed to rest under the big oak tree at my farm. RIP Mac

Perch, really? I figured that would have been more likely if he had been black-based, which I guess is why we thought belgian.

Here are pics of our two geldings--born about 2 wks apart. Both born solid black with white stars. Both Perch x Belgian, half brothers & 18mths old but slightly different in coloring.

Eh, idk. I've always been better with the light breeds but I know that some perch's are grey dappled.

Cat, I would have guessed Perch cross on your boy too, based on his head, but when you start directly crossing these draft breeds they can fool you. I would have guessed my gelding to be a Perch cross too, based on his build, but he's out of a half Clydesdale mare.

Danastark ~ haha I'm 5'9 too, which is part of what attracted me to these big guys. I rode a 15 hand FQH for years and although he was a great, great horse and never had trouble carrying me, I always felt a little John Wayneish, on too small a horse. My gelding isn't that much taller at 16.2 but he's built like a tank and my fiance, who's 6.2 looks small on him. I actually intend for my colt to be my next riding horse once he's mature enough - but I'm starting to wonder if he'll be TOO tall for me *lol* 14.3 at ten months. I'll strap a rope ladder to the saddle.

Indy-watch out! My 18 hd. Gelding was 14.3 at 11 mos!! He's now 5 1/2 and I keep telling him he can stop now. He seems to have held steady here for a while though so I'm hopeful :) His back is changing some, getting a little bit of withers which must be the paint/TB coming out a little. Had to get an extra wide saddle and a 62" girth! Got a great ride in last night, that boy can move when he's so inclined!! Great trail horse, great mind :) Your boy is just gorgeous!!!!

Dana - oh dear. my colt's sire was 18 hands even, but my mare, his mama, is only 15.3 so I was hoping he's be around my gelding's height at 16.2-3. His string test at 6 months put him at about 18.2 at maturity, but I know that isn't real reliable and I was hoping it was a fluke! Thanks for the compliment...did you mean my gelding on my avatar or my colt? He's kind of in his fluffy awkwards right now, but I'm hoping he'll mature out nice. Here' a pic of his sire (Shire):

I already have to have draft saddles for my gelding and Finn's mama so hopefully one will fit him, if not I'll probably have to get one custom. :(

I see on your page Cody was a PMU - I looked high and low for PMUs and couldn't find any available, I ended up getting my horses shipped to me out of the Dakotas. Did you have a farm nearby you got him from?

Here is my boy Clyde he's 16.2hh's 16years old and cute he needs to fatten up but we are working on that.
He has been badly abused but hopefuly with heaps of TLC we can get him back to normal and happy.
