I agree with Stephanie she is priceless to hundreds of people, just put her and her well being first. That's all I ask. You could help a lot more horses as well by saving money, since breeding costs so much!

I agree with Anna,Mighty and Stephanie. 1.Gypsy was rescued along with 14 other horses and for you to suggest that she could be stolen is wrong. 2. I am pretty sure that the contract does state that if you are adopting a horse from the resuce then you can't breed them. (so you asking the question about breeding is wrong) 3. I am pretty sure that the foal was not sold for $3K. 4. Do you even know what it takes to own a rescue? You can't just get land and leave the horses there while you are at your house miles away. 5. There are alot of us that have put alot of time, money, heart and many hours helping out this horse rescue (any horse rescue for that fact) if you are unsure of stuff and have questions I am pretty sure if you asked the person in charge of the resuce you will get your answers and you wouldnt have to assume things for yourself. I am sorry if this is coming off rude or anything but I take pride in all the horses at the rescue and I have spent alot of time with all of them especially Gypsy. I want her to have a forever home and a person that will love her.

Hmmm?

I happen to be the one that runs Mea Ola's Place...home of Operation Horse Rescue...the rescue where Gypsy is ans WAS up for adoption.

I am dumbfounded by this. Why on earth would anyone be wondering how much she is worth with an adoption fee of $250.00? Why would anyone wonder if she could be bred. There is no confusion about her age, she is 20 years old...AT LEAST! Shannon asked what happened to the foal that was Gypsy's when she was at animal control.."Did she get out?"...I said "Yes, she was ADOPTED...where did her foal was sold for 3K come from?

There is no possibility Gypsy was stolen. She was seized FROM HER OWNER in a documented case by Animal Control...along with 5 other horse he owned. This information was also given to Shannon.

No breeding, no re-selling...this was all discussed So was the fact that every rescue on this property is LOVED and watched by over 200 people!

She also did not nearly founder in January...she has laminitis rings from some point in her past...but not since animal control had her or since we have had her.

Thank you Meaholics for bringing this to my attention.

I am not interested in breeding her for money. I was interested in her ability for my son. I have no plans for her other than for a pasture buddy for my mare. I have received conflicting information about her from other sources and was just trying to do my homework and speak with MeaOla today regarding the conflicting information. I am heading there now and I hope to have some information cleared up.

I too appreciate those who care for her and all the horses that need rescuing but I think that people are assuming the worst.

I think it is too bad that everyone assumes the worst when someone is just trying to make a wise decision that is best for the horse and potential owner.

Her health issues are not a concern as farrier work for about a year and attention will fix that.

Her brands are of interest to me as is her past. I wish everyone would quit reading more into that than there is.

I finally saw pics of Gypsy. I don't believe she is a purebred Gypsy Horse. She has little or no feather and her feet appear to be very small, compared to Gypsy Horses. Her body too, making allowances for her probable not good care in recent years, is not a Gypsy Horse body.

However, she could be a Gypsy cross. That also might be in doubt, because of her age and the fact her dam would have had to be a few years older than 20. In those days, there were only a couple of Gypsy Horses in the US but interestingly, were in S. Cal. Could have been bred by someone just wanting to produce colour and who automatically branded all their horses.

She is a pretty old lady and not bad for her age and poor care in the past. She will make a lovely buddy for someone.

The problem I personally have with you is you consistently say you aren't a breeder, only want to breed for your son...why?! How old is your son? If this mare is indeed 20, let her be and love on her with your son, you can teach him whatever it is you think he needs to know by letting him work with her, not bring another life into the world. If you want him to see that, pull up youtube and let him watch it there.

Sure is some mystery surrounding this mare, feels like someone isn't telling the truth and if the people who have spoken up about this mare are on the up and up, PLEASE find her a more suited home where she WILL NOT be bred, will she will be able to live out her life peacefully and surrounded by love and pats and treats for the remainder of her life. Sounds like she has been through enough already.

I totally agree with you Grey, calohboy is the owner of Gypsy and the rescue the information she provided is what is true. She definitley should have another home where she will just be loved and like you said NOT BRED.

Actually, even if this girl did have a reliable history and was a purebred something, at her age now, she shouldn't be bred, even though someone did apparently breed her last year. Presumably, this was the idiot who had his horses all removed from him. I'd be interested to know about his other horses. Were they all of similar type or of varying types and possible breeds?

Madder than hell

well came home from euthanizing my cat and her and friend at my gate....trying to say I lied and the mare was 10...then someone told her she died? WTH...I have all the records on this horse. I repeatedly asked her where she got this info...won't say. Who knows these horses besides my vets, farrier and the meaholics...no one!

I let out many 4 letter words and I am flaming mad! No excuse can excuse the fact of wanting to know her worth or if she can be bred! My family and I have nearly killed ourselves taking care of these horses and feel SO reponsible. Do you have any idea what this has done to my confidence about adopting any of them to anyone else?

I said lots of bad words and had asked them to leave several times becasue the story and excuses just kept getting more ridiculous.

Smear me if you want to Shannon. I made the commitment to make sure each and every horse rescued would NEVER be put into a bad situation again. Unfortunately, you do not make any sense what so ever...and the more you try to explain...the worse you look!
