AMAZING Dressage Ride!

I feel like I'm walking on air and I just wanted to share with people who actually have an appreciation for how amazing my ride today was! I've had the good fortune of riding with my instructor as something of a working student. She works primarily with Lusitanos and Andalusians... and I get to join the fun. They're like the Ferrari of horses! So light, sensitive, loose and flowy.

So I had fun enough riding one of her Lusitano geldings and continuing to learn to use the double bridle effectively... but then she popped me onto her Thoroughbred schoolmaster and casually had me take him through my first ever piaffe, passage, and flying changes! WHOA it was so awesome. There aren't words to describe. Obviously I was far from perfect with any of it, but I got to feel some of those higher level movements for the first time.

Needless to say, I am sooo excited to continue riding and working with my instructor.

I rode Andalusian before. The gate was AWESOME, so I know how you feel. Glad you have such a great opportunity!

Its an amazing feeling isnt it. When you get a flying change ( a proper one not one that show jumpers do which I count as a change of lead) for the first time, or feel the power of a piaffe It is like floating on air!

I've ridden a grand prix dressage horse once, I spent most of my time going sideways but it was great fun!

RIDE your horse FORWARDS and keep him STRAIGHT

Wow that's awesome! I feel inspired just watching the kind of riding, let alone actually giving it a shot. What an opportunity for you! Please live it up for those of us who are less fortunate!

Lucky! I know exactly how you feel though, last summer I interned with a GP rider/coach and got to ride her PSG/GP horse a couple of times.

This is him:

It feels so fantastic to ride a well trained dressage horse.

I've always wanted to ride one of those higher level dressage horses.
It must be amazing!
