I was wondering if I could wear this tied instead in my dressage prep test?

What do the rules state? If it's unacceptable attire, you can't wear it.

I think a nice tie or a white or cream stock would look nicr personally.

No. If it's a pony club or official test, then you need to wear either a tie or a stock - preferably a stock as ties are very 'hacky'.

I think it's cute. I would wear it at a schooling show maybe, but never at an "official" show.
