Just Wondering When The horse Does The Extended Trot Should The Hind Legs Be Tracking Up Still? In A Lot Of Dressage Test Ive Seen On Tv The Hind Legs Dont Seem To Track Up. Just Wondering:)

Cool Pictures! Thanks For That! I Thought They Were Meant To Track Up But Just Watched Some Dressage Earlier And A Lot Of The horses Weren't Tracking Up

Unfortunately judges seem to like the "flash" of a huge trot rather than a true extended trot nowadays.
For instance, this trot is very flashy, but it is incorrect:

The angles of the raised pair should match; in the above image, the angles do not.
Here is a more correct extended trot:

The angles are quite similar.

As for tracking up, yes they should, that shows proper engagement of the hindquarter, but when you have a flashy trot like the first image, it's nearly impossible for a horse to track up.

Sad, how we've deviated from the correct way to do things.

A good book to explain all this is: "Tug of War: Classical versus 'Modern' Dressage"

I Was Thinkin That ! The horses Flashy Front Legs Distract The Judges From The Hind! I Was Wondering If I Was Teaching Oscar It Wrong Because When He Extends He Does A Huuge Overtrack! A Hoof And A Half In Normal Walk So Its Even Bigger In Exteneded
