I've started giving a 13 year old girl lessons and she has this habit of getting uneven reins.
She'll be really good with a soft contact and then after a few minutes the reins will slip through her hands and she'll pick up the slack again but then her inside rein will always be longer. Doesn't matter if she's going left or right on a circle, her inside rein will slip through her hands.
I don't know how to get her to fix this as it seems like every 2 minutes I'm asking her what her reins are doing to make her more conscious of them.
Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to keep nagging and she can't ride around with a knot in her reins forever. She uses jumping reins with the little mark thingies on them, but they don't really seem to help her keep them even.
