I use to do this very much when I was a beginner.
My coach put coloured tape on my reins, so like green, in the area that I should roughly hold them. That way, I could not only see, but feel where my contact should be. It actually really helped.
I think by reminding her about her reins instead of just telling her that her reins are uneven, is a good idea. It makes -her- think, instead of you doing all the thinking.
However, ask yourself why she cannot keep her hands even. Is it something with her arms? Wrists? Or is it in her seat? I think if you can find the problem, you will be able to give yourself a better solution.
