    As another transplanted Brit I am left scratching my head at the discussion of terminology used, when it was correct for the UK. My goodness!

    OP, I come from a jumping background, with that still being my goal for my young horse. All horses need a foundation of dressage/ correct flatwork etc. If I were you, I'd find a local BHSA instructor who can help you.
