I had the best lesson EVER tonight. My new mare has been pretty tense in her back for the past week. Within 20 minutes of my lesson she was round and moving freely. Who would've thought the solution would be to go back to basic bending at the walk? I practiced my dressage test for next weekend, and did it almost perfect on the second try (just have to work on the halt).
I actually felt like a dressage rider too - I had good posture, bent elbows, heels down, hands together- everything fell into place and we worked together for a change. It's a great feeling
I'm really happy because for a while, I was re-thinking buying this mare, but tonight she showed that she can do it, I just have to ask differently that my other horse. I had her moving nicer than my novice-level gelding tonight, and she is only 4! Just thought I would share
