Green Canter on a 7 yo?

I very much disagree with it. If horse is unbalanced it won't be happy to canter in ring: on trail it's much easier to do (especially going uphill). Get the balance in place and horse very well may enjoy working in arena.

It is so wonderful to get all of your opinions! I am keeping this one on the back burner. I have another I am going to see this week and will create another post with the link to the video. Would love to get your input.

It could be the horse hsnt done a lot of canter work. We had a mare at the barn who didn't need to canter I'd done a little work with her but she was still unbalanced and unconfident at canter.

She could happily trot turn and even pop ov some small jumps. She's now learning to canter properly and one of the techniques we've used for this is popping over a jump and giving a squeeze so she landed in canter for 4/5 strides.
