Default If horses could speak

Has anyone else seen this DVD? It is by dr. gerd heuschmann. My instructor has sent it home with each of the people in my lesson so we could understand better the anatomy of how we ride. I thought it was extremely informative and helpful. Getting to see the differance between a loose fluid horse at the walk and a horse at the walk with a tense back (Performing at Grand Prix no less) side by side was an eye opener.

He spoke about how competitive riding is getting away from functional with the horse in mind to "spectacular". What I didn't know is the suspenseful trot (He calls it a competition trot) that you see in high level dressage is actually a sign of tension through the long back muscles.

Dr. Heuschmann has done a few clinics here about his book and training methods, and I'm hoping to go to the next one he does. Has anyone else been?

oooo that dvd sounds really good! i personally think the "suspencfull" trot never looks anywhere near as good as a natural trot.

I have read his book and my horse has been in his clinic, although my trainer was riding him. I have the DVD on order but it hasn't arrived.

You can buy it here DVD If Horses Could Speak by Dr Gerd Heuschmann

Maybe they would ship to AUS?

Im actually guilty of falling for the show trot. I always thought it looked neat how the horse hovered in the air for that extra moment. Then they showed a balanced trot and that show trot next to eachother and I could really see the difference.
