Yesterday we hauled out to Morven Park in VA for the USDF Summer Breed Show II. Cavalina, my oldenburg yearling, was entered in the Yearling Filly class and GOV Oldenburg class.
You may have seen my thread in the show forum about how at every show she's been to this year, she comes in last place.
Well, yesterday, she WON her yearling class! It's the first time she hasn't come in last place :) There were 2 other VERY nice fillies in there with her so it was an honor for me/her/her handler. She went on to the young horse championship class, but champion and reserve went to the 3 year olds because... well, they don't have a case of "awkward yearling-itis" .
Then, in the Oldenburg class she came in 4th - out of 5, but she still wasn't last! Woo hoo! The older horses took top honors in that class, also.
She was so well behaved and I'm sooo proud of her. She's jumper bred, but she looked like she fit right in with all the REALLY nice dressage bred horses. Yesterday was definitely the nicest trot I had ever seen out of her.
Her handler was very impressed with her, her HIGH confidence (she handled her last week at a Future Event Horse show and Cav had confidence issues in the indoor) and her good manners and said she'll make one heck of a nice riding horse one day :)
Ok, enough rambing - PICTURES!
