Talking My progress and my boy!!

Ok, I was origanally posting our progress in Drummer's horse page. If you want to look at it, I kept it up. But, I wanted to start a post of our progress since this year is huge!!

Here is a little background of my horse. He is a cherry bay, almost 3 year old. He is a quarter horse but he moves like a tb. I have owned my boy since october 2008 and even though I couldn't ride him, I still went to see him all the time and we are very very very close now. I honestly didn't/don't mind not riding him. But, that doesn't mean i'm not super excited!!

So today (christmas day) I thought someone might want to read this. If you don't no worries, I think it's more for me

On Dec. 1 I moved him to the best place in the world. Everyone there is amazing, the horses are incredible and the arena is huge ( and good hay and shavings but I don't want to go on and on)

Drummer started training. He was so balenced and everything (from me working with him, they say :)) that his training has taken almost no time. My trainer (Bethany, she will come up quite a bit.) told me that I will be on him by New Years Eve!!

After she has been working with him, he is starting to become more and more floaty and he is already gorgeous so its AMAZING Maybe that's baised.

Sorry for the novel. Hope it was at least readable.

Good luck riding him, he sounds like a lovely boy!! But how come this is in the dressage thread? Breakers don't "do" dressage...

KristinJ: Thank you! It's so very exciting!

Kayty: Yes, I understand, but I put it in here for two reasons 1) I will eventually do mainly Dressage with Drummer because it is what I love to do. 2) I didn't know a better one to put it in except horse training, and maybe I should've.

As for Drummer I didn't get to see him today :( its ok though as I got to see him yesterday so he got the treats out of his stocking and everything so we pretty much celebrated christmas on christmas eve (lucky boy). I got him a cooler so that we don't have to borrow one! We also got a big salt lick, apple flavored lickits and I got riding pants

Well how darn exciting is that!!!
Yay for the two of you!!
I have my new mare out to a trainer and he got on her the second day...lol
My plans with her are to do dressage and hunters. Jumping later but she will get started over small crossrails.
It is a very exciting process isn't it.
I can relate to your excitement. Right now I am so anxious to get my girl back, but it will be at least another 45 or so day...:(
I miss her.
Are you taking pics of your boy? I have been taking pics and vid of my girl and watching her change is so neat. If you can...try to take pics. It will really make you smile.
Best to you both!!!!
What a way to ring in the new year!

Haha I know I was thinking how cool it actually was. I was riding my horse on the new year. I'm sorry you can't see your horse, I would be so sad!

My boy loves to jump and I jumped for six years before Dressage so I think we will jump a little for fun. Maybe in a few years show a little but not seriously.

I'm going out ALL day tomorrow and it will be very fun! I'm excited and I'm also going to earn a bit of money. More for Drummer Boy!

Big News!

Today, I took a lesson and then went on to lunge my horse. I asked Bethany if it was ok that I lunged Drummer in tack. She told me I could, but if I wanted to use side reins, that I should probably put him in a sidepull.

So I tacked him up (for the first time!!) and put him in a side pull with the fluffy blue noseband (blue is my favorite color on him)

He was amazing and didn't react to the side reins (they were a little loose but it was also his first time) at all. I am so excited.

ALSO the date is set to ride him (for the first time) in my lesson. Saturday, January second at 1:00 p.m.! Can hardly hold the excitement!!

Lol just about! I've no idea what I'd do without Drummer Boy

Oh and I had a question for someone who knew. Does a horses registered name have to be their show name? I have a really good one I would want to use but it isn't his registered name.
