Cark Hester hacks Uthopia frequently, it's a huge part of his training. In fact in an interview after his test yesterday, he said he's going to give Uthopia a couple of days of hacking out on the gallop track with no or very little arena work before the special. GOOD. ON. HIM.

After watching today I have to say Carl Hester is now one of my favorite riders. Not only does he ride beautifully but he lets his horses be horses.

Carls horses also get turned out! Unlike a lot of other Dressage horses!

So I haven't started watching yet, too many small, noisy children here today (and I birthed them, WTH was I thinking lol). However, I have heard that at least one rider has worn a helmet. Colour me impressed

Just watched Edwards test, he looks great. If only I could sit trot half or 1/4 that well!

That was a sharp horse. Impressed with his riding, keeping it together.

I just watched David Marcus on youtube. That was just awful riding in the pouring rain. Not awful riding, just the fact he had to perform in the pouring rain.

But what grace under pressure! I felt so bad when his horse first exploded but then he just kept going and going. And David sat there so calmly it seemed and just rode it out. The best part was when he gave his horse a pat on the neck after leaving the arena. What a lovely horseman he is!

I can tell you this from experience, but if he hadn't behaved that way, Robert Dover would have torn him a few new places to poop from and then told him he never wanted to see him again. Robert Dover, even when on crutches, is a very very scary man.

Sucks also because now their team is out (due to new 3 man teams), and I think didn't an eventer fall too so their eventing team was eliminated as well??? Maybe SJ will go better for Canada!!
I'm just looking up scores right now...

Wow the US is in 5th place!! And overall I think the scores are quite low. Too bad Calecto V (His sire is Rowan's grandsire) only got a 70% - I will have to watch the replay! But good on GBR and good on Germany!!!! With almost no big names and they are in Silver position - we'll see how the special goes in a few days!!

Does anyone know what was up with this horse's eye? Looks sewn shut.

I watch his show on HRTV, At Home with Carl Hester, and it's really interesting. His horses are so dang happy!

I found this on the FEI website:
Dressage rider Minna Telde (SWE), asked how her inexperienced, one-eyed horse (Santana) coped with the occasion, scoring 67.77: "Only quite well. He was scared by the sound of all the cameras clicking and we made two big mistakes. Apart from that, he was very willing and very forward-going. His (lack of an) eye is an extra thing to take care of. He can see nothing to the left and has to rely on me to tell him it is OK. He has to believe me. It's a matter of trust between us."
Wow! Just wow!
