^^ I find that as well but I've always believed that it was because the horse also had to be built to jump and gallop and have the fitness to do all three. I've always enjoyed watching the FEI dressage but not so much the 3DE. Yes it is all interesting to watch but the Cross Country is really what I want to watch witht eh eventing!

Cross Country- The act of hurling yourself and your equine partner at a stationary object with poise and grace while attempting to survive...

I think it's just because they put more training into the XC and SJ myself. The FEI dressage has frustrated me in recent years for a different reason - rollkur/LDR. If I see another tail-switching, overbent horse with no hind engagement (but of course very flash front end movement!) win the dressage I think I might scream...

That's if I see the dressage at all, Channel 9 will probably show the men's 20cm tiddlywinks instead.

I think Andrew Hoy did a lovely test. They showed it on London Gold on Channel 9 in Australia like 1/2hr ago. They're meant to be showing show jumping tonight. I think they're going to play a lot of it, because to outsiders, jumping is so much more exciting to watch and Edwina Tops-Alexander was Australia's 6th most popular athlete according to the Channel 9 website. If it's anything like Beijing, they'll show a lot of the cross country too as it's also exciting.

May I ask...Who is actaully on the Olympic Equestrian Team? I haven't been able to chase any of it up! I know Shane Rose and Megan Jones are both out and that Edwina Alexander is in...but who else?

Lucinda and Clayton Fredericks, Andrew Hoy, Sam Griffiths and Chris Burton for the eventing. Kristy and Lyndal Oatley, and Mary Hanna for dressage and James Paterson-Robinson, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Matt Williams and Julia Hargreaves for show jumping. Rob Oakley, Hannah Dodd, Joann Formosa and Grace Bowman for Para-Equestrian.

I wish I'd seen Andrew Hoy but I was asleep at that point. I like his riding across all the three disciplines.

Haha when I was a kid and we used to go to Sydney Royal there was no way I wanted to watch the dressage or showing - jumping only! So I kind of get where they're coming from.

See I went down to Sydney Royal to work for the week in the horse office this year and on ym breaks I was GLUED to the Show classes!! Off topic....
But I did also love the 6 bar and the showjumping! Got to meet some pretty up there Equestrians as we were helping to measure and micro chip scan the horses so that was awesome!

Anyways back on topic

I only got to see Karen O'Connors test and most of the Russian guys and while Karen was ok, she did a lot better then Russian guy and she only got I think a 40 something percent on hers. Her biggest downfall was her final halt. Oh my it was horrific!

You have to learn how to fall before you can learn how to ride~

She's riding Sancette.

I'm not really fussed about Mary Hanna being on the team. I think they could have picked someone better, but I also think they could have done a lot worse. Kristy being on the team annoys me a lot moe though.
