Reeco's first dressage and first ever ridden show

Well we made it to the dressage today despite sleet and snow.

Reeco was an angel, I tied him to the side of the lorry, went back inside to get the grooming box and reeco decided to break his twine and take himself for a walk. He was found gently strolling down the isle of horseboxes, saying hello to a couple of horses on the way.

Tied hime back up, gave him a quick brush and shoved his saddle on him.

Took him to the warm up (we were the only ones there at that time) and got on him. He did NOT drill me into the floor infact he didnt even flinch.
Warmed him up and settled him, then I got back off, changed into my show kit and then got back on him.

Back into the warm up and then straight into the arena for oour test. It went reasonably, he did take exception to the white boards and he was very behind my leg and backing off a bit, but as he had felt very explosive as we went in I didnt push him.

Came away with a score of 58.7%, no unexpected comments on the card (basicly needs to be more forwards and he was on the wrong bend whilst spooking at the white boards).

Good enough for 3rd place and a nice shiney yellow rosette.

No photos yet as the only photos take were on a disposable "real" camera and we need to finnish the film before having it developed.

That's pretty respectable for a horse with some "attitude" problems.

    Well done.

Hey, I told you he'll do just fine. I know from my own experience we over-worry too much sometime.

HEY!! Didn't you know you are supposed to get eliminated in your first show? He was supposed to jump the ring, bronc buck so badly you get excused, reach into the judges stand and bite the judge, have the billets break on your saddle causing you to fall off at A, or some other huge disaster?

    How boring for you........

Alison it was a big worry that he would do a broncing hysterical bolt and I would end up being take away in an ambulance! It certainly happened last time I tried to get on him at a competiton
