Most tack shops that have a lot of saddles, have a saddle fitter. Otherwise how could they possibly plan on selling all the saddles??
Good luck and I hope you are able to find something that will be better for you and your horse!

I wouldn't hold my breath for those though. At least around here. I talked to several and I wouldn't trust much most of them (and I've read complaints too).

Phoenix, you can check official sites for the brands like Albion, County, Black Country, etc. Some post available saddle fitters in area (I know BC and County do). So if there is one in your area or close you can contact that fitter - they often carry other brands as well. Also some travels through the states (I get emails about County fitters coming to my area from time to time).

Thanks. I'm going to check on the brand sites and see if I can find anything too.

Well when I asked them 6 years ago if they had a saddle fitter they did not, things might have changed since then, I do hope so. I had to go on the advice of someone else then too.

LOL, gotta love those saddles, I have a really nice saddle, which I am only to well aware my butt has grown out of, but I still stick in that better than any other.

Good luck with your saddle search, I am only half joking when I say we should all go find a saddle that fits us and is comfortable to ride in, then go find the right horse to fit it, it can't be any harder than doing it this was around!

Yeah. I rode a friends horse on his old very shiny leather saddle and every time the horse moved I felt like I was sliding off, mostly because he had cleaned it/oiled it far too much.

I just hope I can find one that fits the horse and is moderately comfortable to ride in. I can deal with a little bit of discomfort as long as it fits the horse, it's about time I spent some money on getting something decent instead of going with used and cheap.

Another thought. You can take wither tracings and contact place like Trumbull Mountains (they have instructions on how to take tracings and pics) or Classic Saddlery. They'll come up with recommendations for the saddle (they also sell used ones, some on cheaper side).

I like this idea, i'm on their site now. I'm still having no luck finding a fitter in the area on any sites, a few have them in the states next to me but t says they don't cover OH. I'll keep looking.

I sent my horses tracings off to Trumball mountains (so thanks for mentioning that kitten_val) and the tack store near me have a fitter who I talked to and I gave her a copy of the tracing too. I thought having 2 opinions would be better and I can make sure they both say mostly the same things.

Then I sat in about 60 saddles yesterday, figured out my horse needs a wide tree and I need a 16.5 seat :) Nothing really jumped out at me in the store but the fitter's going to bring a selection next week to try on the horse. The most comfortable was a m.toulouse I sat in which unfortunately had a 17 seat and a narrow tree; so I looked around online and found a clearance toulouse with a 16.5 seat and wide tree so I ordered it. I can always return it if it doesn't fit Phoenix.

I feel like i'm heading in the right direction.
