First - Can you travel to a local tack shop and "sit" on a few saddles? Deeper seats can be larger and still fit you, then you need to know if you like a narrow twist (or not), and lastly at your height you MAY want smaller saddle flaps.

Once you know what fits you you can tell the saddle fitter that and see what used saddle they carry (if any).

Do you know what tree size fits your horse (narrow, medium, wide, extra wide, something in-between?) Fitter should be able to help with that also - but brand you are interested is good to know.

No - I ride in a 17" jumping saddle and an 18" dressage saddle - riders saddle size also depends on depth of saddle.

i discovered I fit in a 17' deep seat dressage saddle as that is what I was riding in with my dressage trainer and hers is a very deep seat. Im def going to be looking at saddles with deeper seats and when im def going to go sit in some saddles at a tack shop. I hope to be able to do trials on whatever saddles im trying. Im not sure about the narrow twist thing but I know my horses fit a medium to medim-wide tree.

Im thinking the ones I like are Passier, Albion, I love the Wolfgang solos and maybe the Thornhill line

My horse needs a narrow and yes, the saddle fitter wants shorter flaps for me as both myself and my horse are tiny and longer flaps seemed to irritate him.

I've now tried a Klimke, Ainsley, Cobra and a Schleese. Hated the Ainsley from minute one (which is ok, my horse hated it too), Schleese was wonderful but it was an 18" so really huge on me and was a tad too wide for my horse, now debating the Klimke vs the Cobra.

My horse was sore in his withers and horribly cranky today, called the saddle fitter and she's coming out Fri. To watch me ride him in both the Klimke and the Cobra to try and figure out what's making him sore as we are unsure if it's one of the saddles or because he was being a dolt yesterday and what was supposed to be a short ride turned into a very long one as his response to anything and everything was OOOOOH CANTER!!! Took nearly an hour to get him listening and behaving.
