Ditto. A nice natural tail, or pulled. Braided tails spoil the look, and if you do them tight enough that they are neat and tidy, they stiffen the tail which then follows up the horse's back and depending on the horse can totally wreck a nice dressage test.

I love ribbon browbands, they are loads of fun to make, but they are not for dressage IMO... leave the ribbon browband and the braided tail in the "beauty pageant" type show rings where they belong!

I'm helping a friend braid for a showjumping schooling show and I'm giving her the same advice... braid the mane and forelock, leave the tail.

Giggles at Katys comment - I actually do braid - but then dressage isnt my main discpiine..... I do it as I thinks its great for both my horses to get out in... and it helps with their jumping

Ironically I also do a little showing too - but wouldnt dream of riding in with on of my bling oversized brows (Thats wht made me laugh)....

I clip my horses tail. So much tidier and neater and no hassles!! No trying to braid with an impatient horse, no getting it perfect. Once it is done it is easy. Just touch it up before the show !

As for her scar- I wouldn't worry about it as it is dressage- you aren't judged on your ' looks' its how the horse performs. But if you are worried about it- I would go chalk or black cream.

Have fun

I really like tail braids, but I can not do it. :p.... My friend did it for me before I went to a big dressage show and it looked awesome!
