We survived First Level :P

Yup, Enrique and I made it through! After a really nerve wracking month of "what? first level? but umm...we don't have the sitting trot, we don't have ANY lengthens and we don't have solid leg yield OMG, what are we doing???", we pulled it together. Was it fantastic - not even close :P But it was solid.
So we ended up with a 61% on First Level Test 1, and 58.5% on First Level Test 2. Which initially, I thought was be7tter than first level 1, but I have the video of Test2, and we DEFINITELY made some mistakes. What I liked though was that on test 1, we got quite a few 7s and even a few 8s (of course, we also got some 3s and 4s *coughs* - but at least that shows a clear area of where we need to improve)
So very happy and proud of both of us :)
Here are a few pictures from the day.

haha, not until next year, or I so would have been waiting for that!
but actually, I saw the video, and while I felt like I was ALL over the place, it really didn't look bad at all, so its going to be a question of being able to sit his big movement comfotably and relaxing my hips and pelvis enough :)

Thank you - it was very stressful for me (not actually the show day, because i get pretty zen, but definitely the weeks before) so to have it turn out ok was a huge relief, and the realization that "omg, we can do it! If we managed to do ok when we really had a month to start solidly working properly, then maybe we really CAN do it" :D

Good job!!!!

Who was judging (I'm assuming it was Doreen??). Isn't Dagmar in Fla.?? Who was doing GP??? (I am full of questions, lol)

Last year when I bumped up to second level I was so not ready for it. I didn't actually have my simple changes, counter canter, etc.. 100% until the middle of the season. And the year before when I bumped to first I couldn't sit Ro's trot either :P
Don't worry about it! Progression is a good thing and you weren't in the 40s!! You will improve the more tests you ride and show. You and Rique are going to kick *** this year, again!
I had nightmares that I would be in the 40s Absolute nightmares LOL. But it was good, and yes, Doreen was judging, and it was nice to see that she tried to put remarks on most everything.
I think the biggest thing for me was mentally getting it together-at least you had had Anebel before and had ridden past training level, so knew that you could at least get it somewhat together. I've gone through 6 young horses in 3 years :P and they were all either sold or left, so never got to go past training until Rico.

I don't know if we'll kick *** this year again - there are some pretty damn nice horses that I've never seen before! But we'll give it our best shot :P :P

oh, i did! you got them from equestrian connections, didn't you?
doreen was being hard...we remarked on that, because one of my barn mates who always scores 65+ on her tests only got a 62/63. my comments were spot on on my test though, so I was at least happy with that!

Oh boy, I'm going to try and do some first level this year *shudders*. I'm not sure how we are going to do it though... He has really poor conformation (he's 17.1hh but his legs are short as my 14.2 horse was, lol) which causes him to have no extension whatsoever. You seemed to have quite a good test for being unprepared! Good job!
