OP, very nice horse. Love that ring. Everyone already covered the bend at elbows, straight line to bit thing. It will come with time.

    Hahaha! That is hilarious!

    Really cute horse!!

    She looks lovely:)

Why is it that you couldn't do a little trot? She doesn't look nervous and even if green she still has the brain of an older horse.

As the others said, sit back & bring your legs back under you (you are sort of in a chair seat). Keep that nice forward looking walk going:)

PS - for suppling, lots of transitions & lateral work. Change paces within the gait & change gaits. Keep her enjoying her work by changing things up. Do 10 meter half circles at walk without losing the impulsion. Keep her moving foreward & enjoy the ride:)

It isnt that she can't do a trot/canter. I have done that plenty. My trainer said since it was her first time going just wanted to assess her and keep it at a walk. We did work on trot/canter while lunging. The lesson was almost 1 1/2 hrs. And since she is green and hasnt been ridden consistently we didnt want to over tax on the first day ;)

    Thanks again!
