Wintec Dressage Saddles

Hello all!

I am currently leasing a draft cross mare and looking into buying a dressage saddle. The reason I've narrowed it down to wintec is because I do not want to buy a saddle that fits only the rather wide horse I am leasing. The two saddles I am considering are the wintec pro and isabell. Has anyone had experience with these saddles? Which is better for a shorter slightly overweight female? I'm looking for something with a secure feeling deeper seat.

The Pro is a very shallow seat. You'll be on your own for position in that thing. Mine used to pitch me forward. If you want a deep seat, try the Isabell. Another option for synthetic is the Thorowgood which also has a deep seat.

I had to chime in here because I'm a shorter slightly overweight female who just sold her draft cross! I own an Isabell that's about 4 years old and I LOVE it. Definitely a deeper seat than the Pro. I hate to ride in any saddle other than my own. I also recommend the older ones (Isabells) because the new ones have a wider twist and just feel weird compared to the old ones. Here's a review of all the Wintecs that may help you. Good luck in your search - hope you find the perfect saddle!

Unfortunately there is no saddle that fits each and every horse. And interchangeable gullets (if any of the saddles you mentioned has them) don't help much. I did try Wintec and it was a horrible fit for both of my mares. Frankly, I'd just use whatever saddle comes with the horse, or look for a cheap used saddle of a good brand that would fit the horse and your bum.

Honestly, I hate wintecs and you couldnt pay me enough to ride in one.

I would have a saddle fitter out for sure to give you an idea of what to get, and then try to find a used leather saddle.
