Finally, hubby let me drive my cobb solo in the easy entry cart. Last week I got to drive in the arena and practice my skills for competition in October. Today I harnessed up Goldie almost entirely myself. Last thing I notice, thank goodness I did, was that I forgot to buckle the throat strap on the bridle!. I'm glad I did a last minute check!
Anyway we drove into the arena and did the competition routine. I am having trouble getting him to back up straight. He did well one time out of about 7 tries. I can't tell if it's me or him. He has backed straight for my hubby, but then he has also backed crooked. He trots well on command and whoas and walks nicely. I was so happy. I even got to take my 7 year old grandson for a ride.
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out if it's my driving or his training on the backing up? The closest driving team is about 2 hours away so I can't just get a quick check up. I plan on visiting that person sometime in the summer for some training but would like to work on this little problem here while I can.
Thanks in advance.
