My property and the land adjacent are clay but part of my travels would be on a sandy gravel road. What are the best tires to use. Altho the Meadowbrook styles are attractive, would those hard tires stand up to the stones?

You should not have any problem with a hard rubber wheel. The pneumatics are a bit smoother ride, but unless you spend the bucks to have them foam filled, the gravel is very hard on them, and you will constantly be fixing flats.
