Not really a question about general endurance riding, but it is something that I have somehow developed.
How do you get over or deal with the fear of losing your horse if you were to become separated on the trail? Nick and I can't do endurance anyway (he just developed a locking stifle so no more loping) but I would love to just go out on the trails again with him. We've never been separated (ie: I've been riding him since he was 2 and he's now 14 without coming off) so I don't know where this is coming from.
Any ideas to help? We're both bored with a riding ring and we used to ride out...it's just different now.
