This weekend, I was in Star Tannery, VA for the No Frills endurance ride (the first ride in the Old Dominion triple crown). The ride is notorious for horrible weather (rain, snow, sleet, windstorms), but this year the weather gods were smiling!
We arrived to upper 50s, sun, and a stiff breeze. But compared to last year (which was about 40 and monsoonal rains), it was wonderful!
Ride morning was overcast, but dry. It was mid-30s, but the wind had calmed so didn't feel too bad.
No Frills trail is the kindest of the OD trails, but still far from easy.
But it is still an OD trail, which means plenty of rocks!
Even after the worst climbs, there were places you could move along.
And all those climbs made for some great views!
In the end, I tied for 7th with the people I had spent all day riding with. Then we stood for Best Conditioned.
AND WE WON!!
Dream got both Best Conditioned and High Vet Score!! Couldn't be more proud of her. And today when we got home, she went tearing off across the pasture like a fool.. obviously feeling fine.
