So much info to read! Interested in endurance

I was recently given a nice 5 yr old papered Arabian and I am evaluating what I plan to do with him:

This is him in training last year (body clipped)

This is him on Tuesday when I rode him for the first time.

He is sweet and seems to enjoy working. The barn where he came from told me that he enjoyed working and didn't give them a lot of hassle. He listened well to me when I rode him. Has a great stop! WOrking with him around the barn has been interesting. I've been doing some desensitizing to various items (the feed wagon is one he isn't sure of yet, lol). He loves for me to scratch his ears and neck and will turn from side to side to let me do so, lol.

Anyways. He is yet to be named which is totally not like me. I normally don't have a problem with names, but I'm having a hard time nailing one down for him. His registered name is Azule and barn name Amos...but I won't be calling him either. DD has offered up, Niko/Neeko, Nasir/Naseer (helper), Luka, Shahzad (Prince), or Asim (protector)...I don't know.

Back to my original thought at hand, lol...where are some websites that I can get started on reading about endurance conditioning and gear? I know that most of the tack I own will not be suitable for him (I have a large NSH/QH cross and 2 QH). I don't know much about fitting an arabian for various articles of tack :)

    Thanks for your help!

Lovely boy! I don't have much help to offer on fitting tack to arabians. Conditioning however, I too am in the midst of. Lots of long, slower distance and gradually ramping up as both you and him become more fit. The actual experienced folks here can give you much better information than I. If you have not already go look around on That is our endurance website. American Endurance Ride Conferance. Endurance is a lot of fun, it can be overwhelming if you do not have someone to teach you the ropes and tricks. Thankfully I had someone. But I am pretty sure on you could probably find someone that competes in your area and would be willing to help you out.
