*English saddle???????

What do you think of this 18" english saddle? Comes with girth and saddle pad. All for $100 -- good deal? The owner say's that she has used it on anything from a narrow arabian to a WIDE draft...

NOTE: I ride in a 15 or 16 inch Western saddle... would 18 inch english be good for me? I have heard you move TWO sizes UP? :)

You'll swim in it. Which are you more comfortable in--the 15" Western or the 16" Western? If you slide around in the 16" western, get a 17" English. If you barely fit the 15" Western, get a 17 1/2" English.

It looks more like an endurance type than full English, also looks kind of wide to me.

I hate seeing saddles set down like that, what do you want to do in your English saddle, how much English riding will you be doing?

Are you sure that's an English saddle? I can't quite tell from that angle, but it looks like it might be a paragon saddle, which are often cheap Indian junk. Not saying this one is, as there aren't enough pics or details to know for sure. If it is, then it's not a god deal even if it does fit you. They're also sized differently, as far as I remember.

Personally, I would keep looking, I would find a smaller size like 16" or 15.5". I used a 11.5" english saddle when I was ten on my 15.3hh. Horse. I used a 14" western saddle on the same horse. I would contact the seller and ask for a 2-week trial. Hope you find a great saddle!

Your 11.5" saddle may have been mis-measured or this was a typo. My 8-year-old rides in a 16", though she should ideally have a 15.5" (room to grow). There's no way you fit in a 11.5" saddle as a 10-year old.

An 11.5" saddle? Umm... you do know that a saddle for your barbie horse is not meant for humans right?

That saddle looks quite wide to me. It is possible it fit an arab becuase a lot of arabs have very wide withers, the so-called "mutton withers". But, that does not mean that that saddle actually FIT the arab. It looks to have a wide and moderately flat angle, so while it might be wide enough , it might be too flat for an arab's shoulder/back.

I bet the owner is just tring to get rid of it, and will be delighted if you take it off her/his hands. Then, getting rid of it becomes YOUR problem.

I'd pass. You can find a better saddle for $100 that doesn't look so cheap. And wide.
