Default Ahhh.... Confused with Direction

I'm kind of embarrassed about this but I have always been confused about left and right direction with horses. Whenever my instructor would say, turn to the left, I always get confused!! Cuz isnt it kind of backwards with horses? It's not MY left is it?? I also get confused when people refer to clockwise and counter-clockwise. Is that just the same as anything else working clockwise? Please help.

im pretty sure if your instructor says turn left she means that you turn your horse to the left...your left :)

clockwise would be right rein (or going to your right) and counter-clockwise would be left rein (or going to your left) :)

Your left, is his left. So when your instructor says "Turn left," pull your left rein, the only time its opposite is with your legs, you push the horse around with your legs, so if you want him to go right, you PUSH him right with your left leg.

Jazzyrider and Abby, thanks! So I guess it is my left and right. Clockwise would be going right and counter-clockwise going left ....

Yep- she says left, go left (your left). Same with right. :)

For clockwise...that's going to the right. Counter= left.
