Smile Beach or mountain riding?

Which place to ride do you prefer beach or mountain? I have never been able to ride at either place but I do know that for my Arabian it was said to strengthen his back riding up and down hills would be very good for him but I have also seen and heard many people ride their horses on the beach. So which do you prefer?

Mountain riding. I adore the mountains, and the scenery is always breathtaking.

Beach riding is nice, but a lot of horses literally fall out when they're confronted with the ocean for the first time. Apparently, it looks like some big, wet, horse eating monster to them!

I went on a pack trip two years ago to the Appalachian mountains. As long as I have a sturdy, brave horse- I'd take that over beach riding any day!

Endiku, if you ever get the chance, go riding in the Grand Tetons. The Appalachian range is beautiful, but for jaw droppingly gorgeous scenery there's nothing like riding in the Tetons.

I'll have to keep that in mind! I just loved riding in the mountains. I remember one of the trails, called the 'Rollercoast' that was a blast to ride- but you definitely had to have a fit horse! There were so many giant hills and crazy cliffs that you almost had to have a goat to get up some of them!

I've ridden on the beach and it was beautiful, but I'm dying to go for a trail ride near Lake Louise in Alberta or something. I don't know which I'd prefer though. :/

I ride in the sierra nevada mountain range all the time but have never been riding on the beach. Well, not the ocean anyways - just the "beaches" around the lakes up here. I'll take mountains any day. :)

It IS very tempting! When I went on a trail ride in the DR, my sister came with me and everybody in the group but I was a beginner. On our way back we still didn't gallop and I really wanted to (only trotted and walked, guess they thought we weren't up to it) so I asked if we could. They were surprised but we're pleased I asked and OMGOSH! IT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN! Crossing that lovely beach was breathtaking and my little horse had a lot of go. Was trying to pass my sisters big guy. (My sister was holding on for dear life during all of this, lol :P) Ahh good times.
